19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.
Now training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from March of that year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.
His defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an improved service.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
The opponent defended 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, he earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
